It’s been a very hard week here at Lucia Pottery. My beautiful little dachshund Graham suddenly got sick on Monday, and regretfully we had to put him down yesterday morning.
He will be so missed by our family, including his Wheaton sister Willow. I will especially miss his big brown, gentle eyes, and his presence with me each day in the studio.
His rambunctious barking as he entered the studio while students were there will I am sure be missed too. As one of my students put it, “His grand entrance to every class was part of the whole pottery experience.”
Some photo’s of my little buddy…

A young Graham.
They often shared a bed.

Your old Graham looks like our old Zoe….Dachshunds are quite an interesting addition to the family. My well wishes go out to your family and Willow… The loss of a pet is just one of the saddest things….
I’m so sorry for your loss. He looks just like our old dachshund Biscuit too. I always wish the lives of our companions could be as long as ours.
Oh, Lucy! I’m so very sorry! The studio won’t be the same without him. I always loved the way he and Willow came charging into the studio at the beginning of class, Graham leading the way and loudly announcing their arrival. I’m sure you will miss him. Blessings and hugs to you and your family as you mourn his loss.
I tried to leave a comment last night, but my ipad doesn’t like blogging
I am so sorry for your loss, I had tears in my eyes reading your blog yesterday. I too lost a dog named Graham when Gerry and I were first living together. He was like our child and I understand the sadness of your loss. My thoughts are with you!!
What a sweet little guy, so sorry for your loss.
Thank you all for your well wishes. Today was my first day back in the studio without him. It was very sad, and lonely. I’m thankful I still have Willow, boy does she miss him too. She is wonderful. but she is not Graham… he was always right there looking up at me with those soft brown eyes, she is more independent always in and out of the studio. Graham wouldn’t go anywhere without me.
I know as the days and weeks pass it will get better.
So sorry Lucy. Take care. ~Ron
So sorry for your loss, he looks looks so sweet. I also had a dachshund many years ago who died.
Lucy, I’m so sorry to read this. Sounds like you and Graham had a real connection. I went to a medium last fall and the first spirit to come through was my dog Mandy. I wasn’t really surprised at all, I feel her around me all the time. I’ve had lots of dogs in my life, but she was the one that I had a real bond with. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you still feel Graham watching over you in the studio.
It’s the same for me… many dogs in my life, but such a bond with him.
… and I know he is with me
To the memory of Graham and all the studio dogs who bring us such joy around the world. May his spirit live on.
Jean, thank you! And a new studio puppy is keeping us busy!!
