This weekend is my Open Studio/Holiday Sale… actually fellow Greenfield potter, and friend, Tiffany Hilton and I decided to have our sales the same weekend… We figured why not advertise together, put our mailing lists together for the post card, and call it a tour. So I sent in some information to the local paper and called it, ” A Tour of Two Potters” ( kinda catchy, huh) well the paper obviously liked it, and wrote a nice blurb using that as the title, with a subtitle, “Two excellent Greenfield potters” - along with a photo of my teapots in process! Oh and speaking of blurbs… the December issue of Ceramics Monthly gave the, “Homegrown for the Table” show at Pinch in Northampton a little write-up, with a photo of my work!
Here is a taste of what you will see at my studio this weekend!
Today I took lots of photo’s, here are a couple of the finished teapots! Tomorrow my assistant Gayle and I will transforn the studio into a gallery for the weekend holiday sale!
Wooo-hooo! … a nice kiln firing with teapots. Here are the teapots glazed, and ready for the firing… and 32 hours later, barely cool enough to take out of the kiln!
Yes, these will be available at this weekend’s Holiday Open Studio Sale!
It was our 6th year for the Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail, and definitely the best. Each year we have more and more visitors and sales. This year feels like it just exploded. My studio on Saturday was elbow to elbow for a couple of hours. And steady sales through out the weekend. Sunday as usual had less traffic, it was a great day for customers to see demos by my apprentice Pam and an advanced student, Gayle.
People came from Boston, N.Y, Phillly, Albany, Vt., Maine, N.J. N.H. and Conn. Some stayed at local B&Bs or just took day trips. I definitely think our tour boosts the local economy!
I worked on dismantling some of the displays today, but the studio is still not in order for Tuesday night classes. I’m wiped out, but just wanted to share a little bit.
Today we started setting up for the Holiday Sale which starts tomorrow at 4:00! The studio is becoming transformed! Here are more preview pics of the latest work.

It’s always that same feeling… will I have enough work… am I really ready… will anyone show up? And it always seems to work out… even if the glaze on my best two pitchers stuck to the kiln shelf.
Here are photos of my apprentice Pam setting up, my friend Mary Ellen cleaning windows… some urns too.
