No Kidding this is what my advanced students call their class, and when one of the newer students make it into the advanced class, they say, “you’ve made it to Big Girl Pottery”.  When they said it to Cliff, he wasn’t so sure he wanted in!

Another session of classes at Lucia Pottery is ending this week… that means Winter Classes are starting soon!  The next ten week session begins the first week of January.

What a great group of students this Fall.  Some of them too prolific in their pottery making… making larger and larger pieces and taking up so much space in my kiln!  But I love it,  it is so good to see students that I have had for a few sessions progress.  One of my students, Darlene,  introduced us all to BEER BUTT CHICKEN ROASTERS.  Our class tasted the most deliclious chicken which she roasted in her very own wheel thrown Beer Butt Chicken Roaster!  Darlene was determined to make this roasting pan right, so she not only made one, but four!  I guess she got my point about repetition makes for a perfect piece… but now I have to fit them all in my kiln!

I would like to introduce Willow, our new addition here at Lucia Pottery!  She is a Wheaten Terrier, nine weeks old.  She is rescue pup from Ohio.  Her mom, along with another pregnant female were rescued from a puppy mill.  The two girls had 17 pups between them. 

Here she is in the snow looking almost un-real… just too cute!   She is making Graham’s life very exciting. 

What a great open studio/ holiday sale it was… the best ever!   Thank you to all who came.  If you missed it, there are more pots left for holiday gift giving.  If you see any pots you like from the pics I posted drop me a line, or if your local give a call, and stop by for a visit.

There is a Christmas tree farm a mile up the road from me , so people were stopping at my sale with trees on their cars and snow softly falling all day… a perfect New England December day!   It’s the second day of the sale.  People were coming in shaking off the snow and warming up by the fire with some hot cider and cookies.   I love the two studio sales I have a year.  People love to see the place where I make pots, and I love to have them here asking their questions, and buying directly from the studio.

I’m open 10-4  Sunday for one more day, if any locals want stop by.

Today we started setting up for the Holiday Sale which starts tomorrow at 4:00!  The studio is becoming transformed!  Here are more preview pics of the latest work.

Shopping Locally!

Well I did end up throwing more garlic grates today, tired and sore, but took an hour break to go to Mary Barringer’s Open Studio.  My potter friend Tiff Hilton called me and said, “I need  break from working my butt off throwing, let’s go to Mary B’s.”  So off we went to Shelburne Falls, stopping at Molly Cantor’s shop first.  There she was at the wheel, we said, “want to go to Mary’s with us?”  She said, “yeah I need a break my wrists are killing me.”  So we all walked over to Mary’s on this gorgeous sunny day, three potter’s, clay over our clothes, taking a break from our marathon of making pots before our sales… to do what?…. go see more pottery.  But Mary’s pots are always an inspiration.  Nobody has surfaces on their pots like Mary, they are so rich, so much detail, and layering.
